A Vacation from Peru

July is vacation month, and this year we actually are on vacation all month! We arrived in Florida the end of June just in time for wedding showers and preparations. July 9 th our daughter, Lisa, became Mrs. Matthew Leahy. She had a lovely beach wedding in Fort De Soto Park. Dave had the privilege of performing the ceremony, and Jon asked God's blessing on their family and ministry.

Thank you for praying for Lisa and Matthew and their future. They are back from their honeymoon and preparing to move to Vancouver , Canada where they will continue theological studies in graduate school.

Right after the wedding Christina left for a summer mission trip. She arrived in Lebanon without her suitcases to work at the Kids' Alive orphanage for the rest of the summer. We heard from her this week that her suitcases finally caught up with her, and she is enjoying her ministry with the children. Christina is excited about having seen the Cedars of Lebanon where King David got the wood for the temple in Jerusalem.  She will be back to start her junior year at BBC in August.

Jon and Angela have just begun their pre-field ministry full time. Jon finished his graduate studies at BBS in May. Now Angela is only working at the hospital part time so they are free to book meetings continuously for the next five months. We are praying that they will have the support needed to be able to leave for Peru in January. There is not one other single thing that would enhance and multiply our personal ministry in Peru more than their arrival to work with us. If you have supported us for the last 26 years, you have already invested in the preparation of Jonathan. Please pray about continuing that investment and helping them move from 55% to 100% support during the next five months. We need them for church planting, teaching in the Lima Baptist Theological Seminary, and prenatal care at the Crisis Pregnancy Center .

After the wedding, we traveled to ABWE in Harrisburg for the annual Missionary Enrichment and Training conference where Dave worked on staff and Evelyn taught a week-long course preparing missionaries for Pregnancy Care Center Ministries around the world. We also challenged medical personnel at the Medical Missions Interface to consider the opportunities for evangelism and church planting through the Pregnancy Care Center ministries.

This week we are visiting Evelyn's family in Pennsylvania , and next week we will be with Dave's family in New York . Evelyn will travel on to Grand Rapids to speak at the Baptists For Life annual summit July 29-30.

July 31 st both of us will fly to Miami , and then back to Peru . Upon arrival Dave will direct the Seminary registration for a new semester. Evelyn will direct a two-week mobile medical campaign with eight doctors and medical students at mission works around the city of Lima as well as at our mission work in Cartavio in northern Peru .

God has been working both in us and through us during this busy month. Please pray that he will continue to do so wherever we may be; and may His name be glorified always.

Yours for new life,

Dave and Evelyn
