Two New Brothers

Dear Praying Family,

Yesterday, my Sunday school class began like any other Sunday. I planned to teach the class a gospel presentation in preparation for an evangelistic activity next month. We had three visitors. One man spoke up and introduced his two neighbors saying they were unsaved and needed to hear the gospel. Another man introduced his son and said he also needed to accept Christ. (They aren’t very bashful about such things here!) So instead of teaching the class ABOUT the gospel presentation I ended up giving them an example of it! God is totally in control. Two of our visitors were very attentive and answered my questions as we read several verses from Romans and John. When I asked if they understood and believed what we had read they both said yes! I asked if they wanted to accept God’s gift of forgiveness and salvation – again they said yes! I led in a simple prayer and Mynor repeated it after me. Something had stopped Eric at that point. He had his head down and was weeping. I put my hand on his shoulder and we all prayed for him. When I asked if he was now ready to pray, he said yes and this time he joined me in a prayer of repentance and salvation. God had been working on those men! Their family members and neighbors had lived out a powerful witness in their lives. I had no idea when I walked into Sunday school that God would use me to welcome them into the family! WOW! There were no dry eyes in the class that day. Please pray for Eric’s father. He was our other visitor, but he is deaf and we were not able to communicate very well with him. After church I saw him reading the New Testament I gave him. Please pray that we would find a way to share the gospel clearly with him.

After class we walked out through the sanctuary and noticed Eric’s wife talking with the teacher of the ladies’ Sunday school class. Please pray for Carmen. She seemed very close, but did not make a decision this time.

That evening after church I noticed a man sitting on the curb in front of the church. I sat down and talked with him for a while. He said he sits there often waiting for his wife to finish work nearby. He can’t read, but listened attentively to the verses I shared with him. He showed an interest in the gospel, but wasn’t ready to make a decision. Please pray for Roberto. Pray that I will be able to find him again and continue the conversation.

What a day! We are rejoicing in God’s goodness. It is truly amazing to watch God work around you doing what only He can do. What an awesome privilege to welcome a fellow sinner into the family!

Rejoicing with the angels!

Prayer Requests:

Mynor & Eric – that they would grow in their new life.
Eric’s father – that he would “hear” and understand the gospel, even though he is deaf.
Eric’s wife, Carmen – that she would accept the gospel message she has heard.
Roberto – that he would have more opportunities to hear the gospel.

P.S. We had a great time with Angela's mother and brother when they visited a couple of weeks ago. Anyone else want to take us up on the invitation? Come and visit!
