Dear Praying Family,

Just a quick note to let you know that we are fine after the earthquake here in Peru last night. A 7.9 magnitude quake struck off the coast several hours south of us. In Lima we felt a very strong tremor for several minutes. Picture frames fell to the floor and shattered, but other than that there was no damage here. The electricity went off briefly.

However in cities near the epicenter there are reports of several hundred dead and many injured. Please pray for these people and for the response of churches in the area and here in Lima as we seek to help those affected. It was certainly enlightening to see the desperation and fear many people showed as we gathered in the street during the tremor. When the ground under your feet becomes unstable you realize there truly is no security except in Christ. It may be an ideal moment to share the certain hope of faith in our Savior.
