Dear praying family,

Rainy season is upon us. It has rained every day now for a while, but it is still beautiful weather. We have clear blue skies in the morning and early afternoon, and then it gets cloudy and down pours in the evening. Just in time to cool things off a bit. The rain has surely made everything much greener. The cloudbursts in the afternoon fill the cobblestone streets with water. I have had to cross a few “rivers!”

We are busy as always. I am sitting here at the seminary while Jon is in class. This is my chance to go into the city to the supermarkets with Jon, but we have to get up by 6 am to beat the heavy part of the traffic.

Prayer requests:

1. Liz – Angela’s Spanish teacher. Liz’s mother passed away a couple of weeks ago. Her family is practicing Catholic, but Liz professes to know Christ as her Savior. Pray for God to work in her family. Liz attended our church here in Antigua last Sunday (it was her first time attending any church in about 2 years because of bad experiences previously). Pray that we might be able to reach out to her family and help them in this time of need. Pray that their minds and hearts will be open to God’s Word.

2.
Brenda – 20 year old worker at a local tienda (store). Brenda works full time at the little tienda. She opens at 9 am and is there until 5 pm. She runs the store all by herself. Angela has been stopping by and “chatting” with her after school and encouraging her to come to the church for a young people’s service. Her family is devout Catholic and don’t want her to be involved in any other religion. She on the other hand does not want to accept a lot of the Catholic beliefs. Since the store isn’t very busy, she has been reading the Bible and many other “types” of bibles. A couple of Jehovah’s Witnesses have been sitting and talking with her about their religion. We were able to sit down and talk with her about the Bible this past Saturday. She doesn’t seem to be searching for the Truth beyond a certain curiosity born of boredom. Pray for a hunger for God’s word in her heat. Pray that she would be able to attend the young people’s services on Saturday evenings. Pray that there wouldn’t be opposition from her family about associating with believers.

3.
Friday Game night – we have opened up our home every Friday as a game night for language school students, friends, and neighbors. This has given us a chance to reach out to some of the young people here. They can have a fun night, they don’t have to speak Spanish , and we usually serve brownies or some other “American” dessert. Pray for the people that come into our home. Pray that we will be an example of God’s love to them, and pray that we might have a chance to share God’s word with them.

4.
We will be traveling across the border into Honduras this weekend to renew our visas. Please pray for safety.

In Him,
Angela Stone
