Hurricane Stan Update 2

Dear Praying Family,

From Jon:

Our church was out shoveling mud again this week. It’s hard to believe there is still a lot of mud in many homes.

It's amazing how God uses the difficult times to work in our lives. It was a blessing to see brothers and sisters in Christ reach out and help each other.

I’ve been picking Eric and his family up for church and visiting them for discipleship over the last couple of months. They live in a one room shack on the side of a mountain. During the rains the wall that holds up the downhill side of their house collapsed. The church plans to rebuild Eric’s wall. We have received $100 to help with this need. Another $50 should be enough to pay for the project.

It will take months for Guatemala to recover from the effects of the flooding. Medical personnel are still working in the affected areas dealing with many cases of Dengue and Dengue Hemorrhagic Fever as well as other minor problems.

Praise the Lord, we have stayed safe and healthy. There are many opportunities to help others who are not so fortunate. Some missionary friends of ours have a ministry building water filters through churches in poor towns around the country. They are working hard to place water filters in the areas most affected by the flood contamination. We would like to help place some of these filters through our church and other Bible teaching churches around our city. They cost only $8 a piece.

If anyone would like to help with the relief efforts please designate funds for Jonathan Stone – hurricane relief. www.abwe.org/give/ways_to_give/online.asp

From Angela:

I had my first opportunity to speak in Spanish in church on Tuesday, October 11th. I spoke to the ladies’ society and gave my testimony. It was a great experience. I was quite nervous, but I had already translated my testimony, so I had it all there in front of me. I shared about my “history” and how God was working in our lives as missionaries. God was working in the hearts of the women that were there. I had

invited a friend of mine to come and listen and she showed up and sat through the whole service. She said she was touched by my story. I pray that she will soon see the need to have a personal relationship with the Lord. Other women came up to me afterward and told me how my story touched their hearts. Some of them wanted copies to share with others.

We will be speaking in a missions conference at our church on November 12th.
