Dear Praying
Family,
As we reported earlier, Peru is recovering from a
powerful earthquake on August 15. We are now focusing
our relief efforts on the urgent need of housing. Many
people are still living on the street, in crowded conditions
with neighbors or relatives, or in temporary shacks.
We have set up a website with a complete presentation
of the needs and project goals along with many pictures
of the families who need homes at www.abweperu.org/earthquake.
The details of this project will change somewhat as
we asses the conditions and consider available funds.
In short, we are asking God to provide the funds for
the following goals:
1) 25 temporary wooden shelters for those in greatest
need.
Cost: about $700 per 2 room “house.”
2) 50 brick one or two bedroom modules for believers
who lost their homes.
Cost: $3,500 per house.
3) 50 modules for unsaved neighbors of those believers
who receive a house.
4) Repairing and partially or completely rebuilding
7 churches in Chincha and Ica and our camp in Pisco.
Cost: first phase - $120,000; second phase - $65,000
I will be traveling south again this weekend with
a team that will install 17 temporary wooden shelters.
Would you or your church consider contributing to this
urgent need? Could you sponsor a shelter or a module?
We thank each of you who have given already. Please
pray with us that God would provide. Pray that He would
be glorified through a marvelous example of His love.
